Susi Hines
After teaching jewellery on full time courses at Westminster Kingsway College and London Metropolitan University Susi set up her workshop in North Essex in 2003. She now teaches on short courses at Morley College and London College of Fashion.

She is strongly influenced by methods of interpreting the universe particularly from the Renaissance eg heavenly maps, models, celestial globes. Spheres are a recurring theme –a form which is both complete and resolved. She uses fine construction, techniques of mounting and mechanics, photoetching, etching, rapid prototyping

Her jewellery works on various levels of intimacy and the relationship from wearer to observer so that there can be a different level of engagement at a more intimate level eg hidden items or surprise elements. Movement eg rotation through complex assembly is a key element in many pieces.

She often works to commission and put strong emphasis on engaging with a client through drawings and models before constructing the final piece.
