It was great to see so many strong applications for interesting projects. It was great to see so many strong applications for interesting projects. After much deliberation, the Board decided to grant two awards.
Michelle Fernandez will be attending Wax Carving and Kinetic Jewellery courses at Morley College. Michelle currently works predominantly in resin and following the courses plans to use her new skills to integrate more silver into her designs, building contrasting elements and expanding her visual language. She is curious to explore how her ideas might change through the creation of new work, as the ‘non-precious’ and ‘precious’ approaches to jewellery collide.
Marie Curtis will be attending the Traditional Jewellery Techniques: Stone Setting and Keum-boo course at Touchmark Studios where she hopes to learn new skills which will give her new avenues to develop, and experiment with her love of colour. Marie also hopes to share her learnings with the ACJ Bath regional group.
We look forward to sharing more details about these events once they have completed their reports and hearing how they have helped develop their creative practice.
