2015 New Designers Award Winner: Emma Cahill
The 2015 Mark Fenn Award was presented to Emma Cahill from the National College of Art in Dublin.
The Association’s 2015 Mark Fenn Award has been presented to Emma Cahill.
The judging panel, meeting at the launch of this year’s New Designers show for graduates at the London Business Design Centre, consisted of Terry Hunt, Nicola Bond, Chris Cursley and, for the first time, Mark Fenn himself.
Emma has just graduated from the National College of Art in Dublin and in September will be commencing an MA in London at Central Saint Martins.
She was showing several ranges, all exploiting in different ways the process of 3D printing. Many of the larger forms are surprisingly sharp and twisty – certainly not subtle but 100% unique and very exciting. Consistent across all her work was a wonderful feeling for colour which she uses with confident boldness but also great subtlety.
The panel was also impressed by Emma’s professionalism; her attention to detail; her obvious awareness of the commercial market, and we look forward to seeing how her work develops.
