Fairlight Sea necklace
Fairlight
Living on the south coast we see huge sections of the cliffs eroded by the sea every year. Houses that were once solidly positioned on the cliffs at Fairlight are now precariously perched at the cliff's edge, with gardens swept away by the sea.
These two necklaces represent the the undulating waves of the English Channel that gnaw ravenously at the Sandstone rock formations of the cliffs along the coastline at Hastings and Fairlight. They are made of Georgette fabric that I’ve dyed, pleated and draped to create soft forms that hang from strong steel neck wires.
