Lynne Speake

Originally a painter Lynne's work sits within both Art Jewellery, Sculpture and Fine Art.
After a four year BA(Hons) Fine Art degree and ten years of teaching Art (inner city London) Lynne moved to Cornwall to complete a MA in Contemporary Visual Art at Falmouth University, graduating with a distinction and a fundamental change to her practice.
Organically driven and led by her materials .. an alchemical maker ... 'gently inviting people to think about the environmental impact of their actions'.
Directly influenced and excited by things unnoticed ... decay, peeling paint, rusting metal, colour, texture and pattern, she is inspired on a daily basis by erosion, the elements and hidden treasures ... things often discarded and overlooked.
Dictated to by her materials she creates sculptural pieces from found objects, loving the challenge of combining industrial discarded objects with organic finds, hand built ceramics and other special treasures.
'Hidden works of Art just waiting to be discovered, discarded by man and shaped by mother nature's elements'
'It is the emotional journey of making that is the most important part, everything else is secondary ... I love that there is hidden beauty within often unnoticed treasures, hidden works of art just waiting to be discovered. Discarded by man and shaped by the elements'
Also a facilitator (which she regards as part of her creative practice) Lynne is Founder and Creative Director of @Precious.Collective (b.2017).
A thriving and dynamic International community of over 600 Art Jewellery makers from all parts of the world, 'Precious' regularly exhibits in both the UK, Internationally and currently has an Instagram following of over 20.7K (Sept 2021)

Lynne Speake is a multi disciplinary artist with a passion for colour, texture, pattern, peeling paint and rusting metal found on the many Cornish rambles she has with her dogs.
Originally a Painter she is directly influenced, inspired and excited by things unnoticed ...
'Hidden works of Art just waiting to be discovered, discarded by man and shaped by mother nature's elements'
Predominantly large in scale she combines sculpture, ceramics, and written word. Her work often sits either on the body, a table or a wall. Dictated to and led by her materials for Lynne it is the emotional journey of making that is the most important part, everything else is secondary.
Lynne is the Founder and Creative Director of @Precious.Collective; a group of over 600 Contemporary Art Jewellery makers from all parts of the world. With an Instagram following of over 20.7K (Nov 2024) the group regularly exhibits in both the UK and Internationally.
Stuff
I make Stuff ...
Stuff you can wear …
Stuff you can hang on your wall ...
Stuff you can put on your coffee table ...
or wear to go shopping ...
or disco dancing.
Individual parts tell me where they want to be ...
who they want to be friends with...
and
who they'd hate to lie beside.
The stuff that I make is both Jewellery and Sculpture ...
both to me are equal.
These parts use a language that is common to both Jewellery and Sculpture ...
there is no difference.
Whether you would wear my stuff tho ...
well ...
that ...
is a whole new conversation !!
