Emily Smith
...
Emily Smith is a contemporary jeweller with an exploratory spirit. She experiments with different metals and techniques to craft wearable and decorative objects. Gathering inspiration from an amalgam of ideas intertwined with humanity, her current work revolves around finding the good when things appear bleak.

Since studying at UCA, Emily has found inspiration from all corners of the world such as the work of Medecins Sans Frontieres and the stories shared through the Asylum Speakers podcast; the materials themselves and the two dimensional exploration she starts each project with on paper. Her current collections include ‘Make Jewellery Not War’, ‘Chaos//Catharsis’ and ‘Surplus’; each with their own story, and from each, she donates 10% of sales to a relevant organisation.

Emily works, creates and teaches under the name, The Metalsmith, from The Colour Factory Studios in Winchester. Alongside her collections, she also works on a number of bespoke pieces.
