Katrina Alexander

Brighton-based designer-maker Katrina Alexander produces beautiful silver jewellery collections with exceptional skill and a striking, simple style.
Finding the inspiration for her work in random, often innocuous, things is perhaps not an obvious route to a jewellery collection, however, it’s not the ordinary that excites Katrina, but the fact that “I see shapes in everything” which ignites the ideas for her silver creations.
In 2008, Katrina gave up her high pressured role in the frantic world of events’ management and embarked on her dream career as a jeweller. This dramatic shift in lifestyle has enabled Katrina to value and appreciate every aspect of her creative life. She is dedicated to her craft and savours each part of the design and making process: from the careful carving of the initial wax shapes, to the sanding and polishing of the finished pieces. Every stage of design and production is thoughtfully carried out to ensure each pendant, bracelet and ring is made to an extremely high standard.
Katrina’s commitment to her work and her determination to produce outstanding jewellery collections is apparent in the classic, honest style of her silver pieces. There is a pureness and boldness in the shapes of her ‘Infinity’ signature pieces: smooth, tactile, solid... they are beautiful by design and satisfying to wear. There is somehow an intrinsic, added value in buying and wearing a piece of jewellery that has been so well thought out and so superbly made. Jewellery such as this, made with consideration and skill from a seed of personal inspiration adds a truly meaningful aspect to wearing one of Katrina’s designs.
Now that her design career is well and truly in full swing, Katrina’s next ambition is grow and develop her work at a natural, measured pace. Keep an eye on her journey – and her collections – to see how her inspiration from the ordinary evolves into the extraordinary.
