Assay Offices

Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office remains open. They will continue to follow COVID-secure guidelines to protect customers and staff. All operating updates including opening hours, and service adaptations, are listed on their website here. Current opening hours are - Goldsmiths' Hall: 10am – 2pm, Greville Street: 10am – 4pm. Standard service may take longer than the 5 working day target. More details here

Sheffield Assay Office continues to remain open and they are endeavouring to operate their normal service wherever possible. Opening Hours: Monday - Friday 08:30 - 16:30. Customer Counter for Collections and Deliveries: 8:30am - 4:30pm – Hallmarking & 8:30am - 3:30pm - Analytical Services. Their Courier Service will despatch on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Edinburgh Assay Office plans to remain open throughout the current lockdown restrictions. Since the last lockdown the Edinburgh Assay Office has developed and maintained a robust set of internal work routines designed to minimise the risks to their personnel while maintaining their service to the trade. It is their firm intention to remain open and to maintain a hallmarking service for their customers.

Birmingham Assay Office will continue to operate across all of its trading divisions during the current lockdown. Their current Hallmarking lead time is 5 working days, but this may vary depending on demand for the service. Their Express Service is still available on request. Current lead times for all other services remain unchanged at present. More details here

Bullion, tool & materials suppliers

HS Walsh are taking orders online or by phone (Biggin Hill: 01959 543660) and are now offering a click & collect service from their Biggin Hill HQ. Both Birmingham and Hatton Garden branches are closed until further notice. Free UK Mainland Shipping on online orders over £50+VAT. They are working in line with COVID safe regulations within their warehouse to get your order despatched as quickly and safely as possible. They aim to despatch your order within 1-3 working days, please contact them if you require anything urgently. More details here

Cooksongold is open to orders online and via their contact centre. Birmingham and London stores will be closed for in-store purchasing and scrap purchasing but you can order & collect after 2 hours. They are working in line with COVID safe regulations within their warehouse to get your order despatched as quickly and as safely as possible. They will still have a limit in place with how many orders they can despatch on each day. They aim to despatch your order within 1-3 working days. More details here

Betts Metals trade counter is closed but they are still fully operational. Web and telephone orders, including refining and manufactured orders, will continue to be processed as normal. A click and collect option is also available at checkout. More details here

Moleroda remain open for online orders. They are currently operating with reduced staff in all departments, therefore they are asking that you help by sending emails rather than phoning wherever possible. They are processing and dispatching orders as normal but please allow for slightly longer delivery times. More details here

Bellore Rashbel are open for online orders. Due to COVID 19 they are aiming to dispatch orders in 1-5 days. More details here

Burhouse Beads are open for online orders and dispatching as normal throughout lockdown. Orders are slightly delayed whilst they work through orders from the Christmas period. More details here
