Currents Necklace 1

Edinburgh-based artist jeweller, Eleanor Symms, designs and makes sustainable jewellery using reclaimed materials, especially plastics with recycled silver. She responds to the shape, colour or texture of something she has found; sea-worn plastics, objects or scraps of waste, which would otherwise be discarded. Her aim is to make jewellery, which is beautiful and intriguing, rather than purely decorative, questioning the nature of ‘preciousness’ and disposability.

These two Currents Necklaces reference electricity generation. Using old AC/DC units from a school science classroom, she has developed these, enhancing and mimicking colours and forms using other reclaimed materials.
