Sara Lois
Cartref Bach,
Lon Pen Y Bryn,
LL53 7PB.
After graduating in 2011 with a 1st class BSc (Hons) Product Design degree from Bangor University Sara set up her workshop in her home village on the Llyn Peninsula in 2012. Previous to setting up her business she undertook placements with various jewellery designers in order to gain experience in both practical making skills and business operations, which she strongly believes has been her most valuable experiences to date.

Inspiration is found in the everyday, be it from her Welsh culture and heritage or that of others encountered away from home. Designs are influenced by a combination of experimentation with new technology/processes and traditional craft techniques. Designs often incorporate mixed materials, hidden details, repetition, kinetic components and an element of personalisation.

Sara's objective is to create simple, sleek and contemporary items that are original and intriguing yet highly wearable.

Two collections are currently available:

- Concealed Emotions Collection
The key items in this collection are from Sara's graduate collection made from silver and re-claimed Welsh slate inspired by how human beings keep their emotions hidden to only be shown to a certain chosen few. The key items in the collection consists of two concentric circles with hand pierced text placed on top of each other which rotate in order to conceal and reveal the sentence within the item. When the writing on both circles line up the phrase is revealed and vice versa. The concealing and revealing of the sentence represents the concealing and revealing of human emotions. A Welsh sentence is used; 'Dau Enaid, Un Daith' ('Two Souls, One Journey') from the poem 'Priodas' ('Wedding') by Richard Lewis Jones. The collection was further developed to include laser engraved slate components and variations on the circle form. Most items can be customised to include any short phrase of your choice.

- Pontio Collection
The ‘Pontio’ collection is made from silver and oxidised silver. The main inspiration originates from the Britannia Bridge that links the island of Anglesey with the rest of Wales, in particular it’s iron arches. The bar structure seen in the bridge is used as an exploration into form, repetition and arrangement. This collection has a connection with the ‘Concealed Emotions’ collection as the theme of duality and contrast is evident by the connection of two areas in Wales and displayed through the use of oxidised sections.
