Jan Hinchliffe McCutcheon

Janet HinchliffeMcCutcheon
I create work as distinctive jewellery collections ranging from hand-made repeats to one off collectable statement pieces, of appeal to women and men. I view my jewellery as both wearable pieces and portable objects.
Carved ebony, fluid textile cord, kiln formed glass and ripple surface silver are symbols of varied representations of linear forms observed from my environment. Materials contribute qualities of weight, volume, texture and colour while simple methods of construction complete original and natural compositions.
Individual elements are symbols of my desire for simple structural relationships within objects for contemplation. Pieces may evoke an intuitive tactile response from the wearer and bring greater symbolic significance to their experience.
