Metalwork and jewellery is one of Sheffield Hallam University's oldest courses. It dates from around 1843, when they were Sheffield School of Art and Design, and reflects the historic traditions of Sheffield – a world class centre for silversmithing, cutlery, precious metalwork and steel production.
The B.A Hons programme combines traditional skills, new technologies and conceptual design, and includes preparation for successful employment and self-employment. Conceptual investigation and critical thinking inform the practice-based approach of the MA programme in our spacious and well-equipped metal and jewellery studios.
