Ning Chang
...
Ning Chang, jewellery artist and researcher, explores the intersection between emotional intimacy and social narratives through jewellery. Her work often engages with feminist theory and attachment psychology, transforming deeply personal experiences into poetic visual forms.
Born and raised in Taiwan, Chang studied Contemporary Jewellery in the UK, where she began to merge craft with critical thinking. Her pieces often employ techniques such as cloisonné enamel and metalwork, combining delicacy with emotional tension.
Currently based in Birmingham, she continues to develop her series Screw Femininity and Avoidant, using jewellery as a medium to question cultural expectations placed on women. For Chang, making jewellery is not only an act of craftsmanship but also a form of self-dialogue, a process of articulating what often remains unspoken.
