The Museum of London recently held a spectacular exhibition of Tudor and Stuart jewellery which forms the Cheapside Hoard. Curated by Hazel Forsyth, the exhibition showed the activities and work of the London goldsmiths of this period. It also drew on detailed archive research by Hazel which reveals the extensive trading patterns which brought some of these jewels to London.
Members of ACJ attended a special viewing at the Cheapside Hoard in March, an excellent opportunity for members to hear about the Hoard at first hand from Hazel, who gave a brief introduction.
One of a series of special events for members.
The exhibition closed at the end of April, but an excellent record of the Hoard is the book London's Lost Jewels, still available from the Museum of London priced at £19.95.
